Puri Association Recognised as an organisation active in the field of international solidarity in Gent

We are proud to announce that Puri Association has officially been recognized as a Gentse mondiale vereniging by the City of Ghent. This recognition, granted by the College van Burgemeester en Schepenen on July 18, 2024, highlights our commitment to promoting international solidarity and justice. The recognition is valid for three years, until July 17, 2027, and marks an exciting new chapter in our journey as an organization.

What Does This Recognition Mean?

Being recognized as a Gentse mondiale vereniging means that Puri Association is now officially acknowledged as a local organization working towards global justice. This status enables us to contribute even more actively to the Gentse community, especially through our membership in the Gentse Adviesraad Mondiale Solidariteit (AdMoS). AdMoS is a platform where organizations like ours can offer input and advice to the City of Ghent on policies, action plans, and regulations concerning global solidarity.

Joining Forces with Other Key Organizations

As part of AdMoS, we are now connected with several key players in the field of international solidarity. These include well-established organizations such as:

  • 11.11.11
  • Amnesty International
  • Rode Kruis-Gent
  • UNICEF Gent
  • Vrede vzw

This membership will allow us to collaborate, share knowledge, and grow alongside these impactful organizations. We believe that by working together, we can enhance our contributions to a more just and equitable world.

Strengthening Our Mission

At Puri Association, we have always been driven by the principles of social justice, equality, and international cooperation. This recognition provides us with greater opportunities to amplify our impact, create meaningful partnerships, and take our projects to the next level. We aim to continue our efforts in raising awareness and taking action on global issues, such as poverty, human rights, and environmental sustainability.

With this official recognition, we are even more committed to making a difference, and we look forward to what the future holds for our association and the people we serve.

What’s Next?

Our recognition as a Gentse mondiale vereniging is valid until July 17, 2027. Starting from July 2026, we will be eligible to apply for an extension to continue our work under this status. In the meantime, we plan to expand our projects, build new partnerships, and strengthen our organizational capacity. We are excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to growing and learning alongside other organizations within AdMoS.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey so far. Together, we will continue striving towards a better, more equitable world!
