On July 14, 2024, Puri Association held its official launch event at Ledebergplein 30, 9050 Ledeberg, from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM. This milestone marked the association’s transformation from a de facto entity into a fully registered non-profit organization, cementing its mission to foster cultural exchange and sustainable development.

The program began with an introduction by Bedh Raj Puri, the founder and permanent chairman. He expressed heartfelt thanks to his family and all attendees for their support throughout the association’s journey. Bedh Raj recounted the origins of Puri Association during the COVID-19 pandemic, when it raised about €45,000 to fund an oxygen generator for Nepal, with substantial backing from NRNA and the Nepalese government. This accomplishment highlighted the organization’s ability to make a significant impact both locally and internationally.

The event spotlighted various cultural activities and collaborations that the association has been involved with, including its role in the Nepali Festival 2023 and VTEN’s European tour. Additionally, Puri Association’s work within Belgium was emphasized, notably their assistance in local flood relief efforts, demonstrating a deep commitment to both Nepal and Belgium.

While the Ambassador of Nepal to BENELUX could not be present, Yam Niraula, the Chairman of the Nepalese Business Association Europe, delivered an inspiring speech. Niraula praised the dedication of Puri Association and reflected on the positive experiences he has shared with Bedh Raj Puri, underscoring the importance of their collaboration.

Other distinguished speakers included Lokendra Nepal, a representative of NRNA Belgium, and Chiran Kunwar Khawas, Chairman of the Nepalese Business Association Belgium (NEBAB). Both expressed their heartfelt congratulations on the official launch of Puri Association and shared personal anecdotes about their interactions with the dedicated chairman, highlighting his integrity and commitment.

A significant moment of the event was the distribution of organizational email addresses to committee members, along with access to tools that would enhance productivity, such as 50GB of cloud storage, Canva Pro, and Microsoft 365 Business Premium.

The ceremonial highlight was the lighting of the “Panas” by the mayor of Ghent, Mathias De Clercq. This symbolic act represented the start of a new chapter for Puri Association, radiating the promise of a bright future dedicated to cultural exchange, community building, and sustainable development.

Following the speeches, attendees were invited to introduce themselves and register for future involvement with the association, fostering an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. The event concluded with a standing dinner, providing ample opportunity for networking and deepening relationships among attendees, which added a final touch to an insightful and successful day
